Przemoc to temat ponadczasowy, z którym od wieków zmagali się politycy, badacze różnych dziedzin, pisarze i poeci, protestując przeciwko niej, próbując zrozumieć i wyjaśnić jej naturę, a w dalszej konsekwencji przeciwdziałać jej pojawianiu się. Ta idea przyświecała zarówno autorom utworów prezentowanych w zbiorze, jak i samemu Harremu Dudzie, który dokonał ich wyboru, a także znalazł się w gronie autorów. Pozostali to m.in.: Zygmunt Dmochowski – poeta, animator kultury, nauczyciel; Wiesław Malicki – aforysta, poeta, publicysta i muzealnik, a także Halina Birenbaum – więźniarka KL Auschwitz, autorka wielu książek poświęconych przemocy, Tadeusz Kijonka – dziennikarz i pisarz z Katowic. W swoich utworach próbują oni opisać rzeczywistość wymykającą się ludzkiemu umysłowi, ów „inny świat”, który istniał w obozach jenieckich (także w Lamsdorf) i koncentracyjnych, w Gułagu, powstańczej Warszawie i przy dołach katyńskich. Prezentowane w publikacji teksty budzą wrażliwość na ludzką krzywdę, kształtują świadomość narodową i postawy moralne. O tym, że wydawnictwo to spełnia dobrze swoją rolę świadczy popularność Konkursu Recytatorskiego Poezji Jenieckiej „Nie traćmy pamięci”, którego uczestnicy chętnie sięgają po utwory poetyckie zawarte w tomie.

The theme of violence does not recognize limits of time and has been undertaken by politicians, researchers representing various domains of science, writers and poets throughout centuries. They all have essayed to comprehend and explain its nature, and – in a further perspective – prevent its occurrence. Accordingly, it is this idea which led both the authors of pieces presented in this collection and Harry Duda, who made the selection and himself contributed to the volume as one of the authors. The other authors are, among others, Zygmunt Dmochowski – a poet, animator of culture, teacher; Wiesław Malicki – an aphorist, poet, publicist and museologist, and also Halina Birenbaum – a prisoner of KL Auschwitz, author of a number of books dealing with violence, Tadeusz Kijonka – a journalist and writer of Katowice. They all try, in their writings, to describe the reality which escapes human mind, that “other world” which existed in POW camps (including Lamsdorf), concentration camps, in gulags, in Warsaw during the Uprising of 1944 and at the execution pits in the Katyń forest. The texts presented in the publication raise human sensitivity to wrongs sustained by people, shape the national awareness and strengthen moral attitudes. The fact that the volume has succeeded in fulfilling its role is confirmed by the popularity of the POW Poetry Recitation Contest “Let us not forfeit the memory”, the participants of which willingly keep reaching for pieces contained in the volume.
