Publikacja jest kolejnym wydawnictwem ukazującym się w serii „Katalog Zbiorów”. Prezentuje interesujące i mało znane szerszej publiczności zbiory. Listowniki, kartki korespondencyjne i pocztowe, listy czy w końcu znaczki i „pocztówki”, znajdujące się w kolekcji, pochodzą z wielu obozów dla jeńców i internowanych, w których przetrzymywani byli w latach II wojny światowej polscy żołnierze. Muzealne zbiory korespondencji jenieckiej liczą kilka tysięcy obiektów, które można postawić w jednym szeregu z największymi kolekcjami muzealnymi i prywatnymi o takiej tematyce w Polsce. Ten niezwykły zbiór, oprócz wartości historycznej i naukowej, a w wielu przypadkach również artystycznej, posiada ponadto wyjątkowe znaczenie emocjonalne, spotykane również wśród innych zabytkowych obiektów, ale tu zwielokrotnione z uwagi na tragiczny wojenny kontekst. Przygotowania wstępu i opracowania zbiorów dokonali Aleksander Klak i Krzysztof Krupa. Autorzy stworzyli rodzaj przewodnika, wskazując najcenniejsze walory kolekcji filatelistycznej. Publikacja dzięki dołączonej płycie DVD, która zawiera przegląd całego zbioru, stanowi kompendium wiedzy o muzealnej kolekcji filatelistycznej.

This publication is a next volume in the series “Katalog Zbiorów” [Catalogue of Collections]. It presents interesting collections which the broad public are only very scarcely familiar with. The letter sheets, correspondence cards and postcards, or – at last – postage stamps, which are found in the collection, come from many different POW camps and camps for the interned, in which Polish soldiers were detained during World War II. The collection of POWs’ correspondence which is deposited in the Museum amounts to several thousand items and can be compared to the largest collections of this type at the disposal of museums and those remaining in private hands in Poland. This original collection, apart from its historical and scientific value, and in many a case – also artistic – is marked with a very strong and exceptional emotional touch, obviously found in the case of other objects of historical-personal importance, but multiplied here due to the tragic wartime context. The “Introduction” and elaboration of the collection are the result of the authors’ work, who created a kind of guide pointing to the most precious assets of the collection of philately being presented. The publication, together with the CD it includes, offers a compendium of knowledge on the museum philately collection.
